Выполнил setxkbmap -option terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp в терминале. Должны быть какие-либо визуальные изменения? А то ничего не происходит.

А если нажать сначала две клавиши Ctrl и Alt, затем, не отпуская их — клавишу ←BkSp.
«Иксы» должны перегрузиться.
Если не получается, просто выйти из сеанса в меню, затем, попав в консоль, выполнить

Получилось с помощью клавиш Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. Затем ввёл startx и всё, чёрный экран. В иксы не выходит.

У меня на ноуте две видяхи - Intel - итегрированная, nvidia - внешняя. Может в этом проблема?

...только что проверил, сейчас пишу из-под SystemRescueCd.
При загрузке в меню Grub'а выбрать пункт
A) Standard 32bit kernel (rescuecd) with more choise...
или
C) Alternative 32bit kernel (altkern) with more choise...
затем в открывшемся подменю выбрать
5) SystemRescueCd with VESA...
начнётся загрузка.
Дождаться появления строки
Load keymap
ввести 31, тогда и в консоли, и в графическом режиме можно будет переключаться на русский язык по Ctrl+Shift

Всё сделал, как вы написали. Ввожу 31 - идёт загрузка, но как-только высвечивается строка root@sysresccd /root % - чёрный экран, помогает только отключение ноутбука.

Перезагрузить иксы получилось с драйвером vesa. Только проблема осталась, сеть блокирует работу. Подскажите, пожалуйста, более старую версию, где нет таких проблем.

Загрузился с 6) SystemRescueCd: 64 bit kernel with default options, затем остановил NetworkManager /etc/init.d/NetworkManager stop и поднял wi-fi вручную. Всё работает, приложения и программы тоже.
