Nvidia X server Settings

поставил Ubuntu 10.04.. проблема не могу поставит разрешение монитора выше чем 640х480... стояли дрова 173 версии... после прочитав массу статей сначала пытался настроить xorg.conf, но мой конфиг совсем отличется от тех, что находил в инете и все изменения в конфиге приводили к ошибке и ОС не загружалась... приходилось восстанавливать... далее решил установить новейшие дрова... и следовал инструкции по установки дров из Вики... но теперь все походу стало намного хуже...
Nvidia X Server settings выдает это сообщение при его запуске

"You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server"

и в нем нет никаких настроек разширения.... xorg.conf стоит как по дефоулту...
а при зашрузке появляется такая ошибка

[4.454225] nForce2_smbus 0000:00:01.1: Error probing SMB2

и далее ОС запускается с таким сообщением

Ubuntu запущена в режиме низкого разрешения
Возникла следующая проблема, возможно придется обновлять конфигурацию для ее установления

Вот Вам и ответ, в терминале пишите
[console]sudo nvidia-xconfig[/console]

Ну во-первых здесь этого много было, смотрите ветку внимательнее, и еще дебиановскую.

А вообще

в конец xorg.conf

вот это вот попробуйте вписать:

только разрешение ваше. Должно помочь, хотя есть и другие методы.

ну так после
Depth 24

вставьте

Modes "1280x1024"

(только с вашим разрешением).

Или уж все нужные пакеты установите, чтоб как durc пишет.

Это то что у Вас
[console]sudo nvidia-xconfig[/console]
А это, то что я писал.
Вы не видите разницы?
Двух последних букв у Вас нехватает.

в общем вписал выдало сообщение

Using X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".

но это проблему с nVidia X server settings не изменило.....
как сюда скрины вставлять чет не пойму на какой аплоадер их загружать?

Видеокарта GF8800GT

это при запуске nVidia X server settings
а это было во время загрузки OC до прописывания в консоли sudo nvidia-xconfig

а это после прописания sudo nvidia-xconfig


вы уж меня простите) я еще чайник в Linuxe да и Англ похрамывает)
вот решил взяться, а тут такие проблемы..)

Вопрос такой, Modes "1280x1024" точно Ваше разрешение?
Если нет, то напишите своё.
Попробуйте после этого перезагрузиться.

xshaman, это я вписал как вы просили...
durc, видео карта поддерживает и больше 1280х1024, но предел монитора такой 1280х1024...
Modes "1280x1024"
этого у меня там не было вообще... у меня есть это
Option "metamodes" "1024x768_60 +0+0"
которое изначально стояло таким
Option "metamodes" "640x480_60 +0+0"

xshaman, заменил как вы просили... он теперь выглядит вот так... но проблема остается той же.... разрешение монитора не могу изменить... nVidia X server settings в том же виде что и на скрине выше, и при загрузке те же сообщения при скринах выше...

А вырубите драйвер на nv пока.
Поглядим не?

вместо "nvidia"
напишите "nv"

и
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

покажте.

Пишет то что спарсить конфиг не может хсервер. (?)


UPD Да и вот эти строки

HorizSync 28.0 - 33.0
VertRefresh 43.0 - 72.0

закоментируйте решеткой пока #

А вообще, мысль така, что надо ЕДИД отключить чтоли.

изменения NVIDIA на NV дали результат) загрузка прошла без ошибок! Но nVidia X server settings дает ту же ошибку
