Не запускается Steam на ubuntu 16.04

Доброго времени суток!
Я совсем новичок - сильно не пинайте.

Проблема: Steam наотрез отказывается запускаться на ubuntu 16.04.
Первоначально не запускался вообще, на попытку запуска не реагировал никак.
После того как порыскал в интернете и вбил какие-то команды в командную строку (увы, уже потерял, где я это нашел и что вбил), о чудо, steam зашевелился - что то там обновилось и даже удалось залогиниться.
Но, Steam так и не хочет запускаться до конца - вырубается в самый последний момент, когда уже появляются границы окна самого Steam.
После этого перепробовал все что нашел в интернете, всякие разные команды - никакого прогресса.

Я не шибко разбираюсь во всяких там логах, но подозреваю, что эта информация нужна (то что происходит при попытке запуска стима через командную строку):

Не помогло. Запросил пароль, и больше ничего видимого не произошло.
Сразу после этого попробовал запустить стим - безрезультатно.

Даже не знаю теперь,но вот ваша проблема судя по всему error: libcurl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Попробуйте переставить. Странно вообще же, что на убунте косяки со стимом. o_O

Я везучий, значит))
Ладно, попробую переустановить.
Судя по запросам в Яндексе, не одного у меня проблемы с запуском стима на убунте 16.04

ldd steam В виде эксперемента, чтоб посмотреть каких либ ему не хватает. В выводе будут много строк и в тех где ноу фаунд надо доустанавливать или линковать либы

Что то я делаю не так

Пожалуй сначало попробую переустановить, а там видно будет.

10 к 1 что не совпадает разрядность 32-битного steam и 64-битной libcurl.so, либо еще проще -- пакет libcurl не установлен.

Я к сожалению не знаю где сам стим в убунте. Его надо найти и выполнить по его полному пути с лдд.

bormant вполе вероятно. Тогда надо будет с мультиархитекурой играться, но я эту ересь уже не застал.

1. Проверено на Linux Mint 17.3/18.1, Manjaro 16.06.1, Ubuntu 14.04.4/16.04.1/16.10 и Arch Linux.
2. Для запуска и работы приложения в 64-битной* Ubuntu и её вариациях (Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu MATE и подобных), перед установкой необходимо выполнить в терминале:
[console]sudo add-apt-repository universe && sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 && sudo apt update && sudo apt install libglib2.0-0:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libpulse0:i386 libasound2-plugins:i386 libbz2-1.0:i386 libgnomeui-0:i386 gtk2-engines-murrine:i386 gtk2-engines-pixbuf:i386[/console]
3. Для подхвата приложением общесистемной темы окружения в 32-битных дистрибутивах *ubuntu — установить пакет libgnomeui-0.

Нет, обманул, ч тогда х86 юзал, и только на генте перешел на амд64.

10 к 1 что не совпадает разрядность 32-битного steam и 64-битной libcurl.so, либо еще проще -- пакет libcurl не установлен.[/quote]

Что то толком не нашел инструкции по установке этого пакета...

В arch нужные 32 разрядные либы устанавливаются автоматом, по зависимостям пакета steam
