Проблема с загрузкой Ubuntu

Доброе вечер! Являюсь начинающим пользователем Ubuntu. Вчера поздним вечером, столкнулся с некоторыми сложностями в работе своей ОС. Система загружается до момента ввода пароля, после, собственно ввода, намертво виснет.
Версия системы: Linux ubuntu 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:50:42 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Действия которые пробовал выполнять:
1. recovery mode
2. Загрузился с Live CD
sudo mount /dev/sda5 /mnt
sudo mount --bind /dev/ /mnt/dev
sudo mount --bind /proc/ /mnt/proc
sudo chroot /mnt
apt-get update
apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
apt-get install -f
К ощутимым результатам это ни привело. Так же необходимо добавить что за 2-3 часа до краха, система начала "жутко тормозить" - это заключалось в периодическом подвисании любых запущеных программ на 20-30 секунд.
Ниже syslog одной из последних загрузок.

Судя по логу, что-то сжестким диском компьютера. Либо он сыплется, либо проблемы с шлейфом. Попробуйте загрузиться с LiveCD и проверить статус S.M.A.R.T. диска (Система -> Администрирование -> Дисковая утилита).

у меня был случай - по тестам диск все хорошо
а в работе тормозит и сваливается в режим PIO
заменил шлейф сата и все стало отлично

больно странный вывод выдает:

трешолд 30 а имеем миллионы...
что-то с винтом...
