Купил ноут, поставил linux. wifi, тачпад заработали сами; wimax, камерой, микрофоном пока не занимался.
До обновления не определился звук (смотрел по мануалу:
Настройка Intel HDA
дописывал конфиг как сказано здесь
После апгрейда ядра отвалилась видюха, но звуковая стала определяться. Вот выводы комманд

ЗЫ: Характеристики ноута
Решение: добавить i915.modeset=0 к GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT в /etc/default/grub
