Добрый день, проблема такая, имеется интегрированное видео P4M890 S3 Unichrome Pro на OpenSuse 11.4 x86 , устройство нормально определяется, но не работает аппаратное ускорение и 3D графика (понимаю что карта древняя , но думая работать это должно все равно) искаропки имеются драйверы unichrome, но при их установке начинаются тормоза с прорисовкой окон (ну и конечно ускорение и 3D не работают) по дефолту стоят VESA драйв .... собственно вопрос такой )) как заставить все это работать)) прочитав туеву хучу всяких хелпов и инструкций по этому вопросу ... я несколько раз убил иксы ну собственно и все
а смущает меня вот что по адресу etc/X11 нет файла xorg.conf но есть xorg.conf.install

можно) вот только зачем ? (может мне показалось но вы сказали что я себя не люблю ?)
и на будущее: smile есть очень мудрые слова "не знаешь что сказать, лучше промолчать"

новые иксы почти всё определяют сами... этот файл - просто один из примеров по видимому...
посмотреть бы логи... покажите /var/log/Xorg.0.log и dmesg|grep via, а лучше весь dmesg на пейстбин...

всё же разобраться, что есть за драйверы такие, via/unichrome/openchrome, погуглить, попробовать как система будет работать с разными...

на via-вском сайте заметил драйвера, но они уже давно просроченные(а может смердженные с основным ядром)... последние под 28-ю ветку ядра и хрен-знает-кукую-бородатую ветку иксов... собрать его у меня не получилось (я правда и не особо старался)... да и, судя по докам, поддерживает он только 2д ускорение...
mixasa, больше мыслей нет... кроме как пробовать самому... можете ещё спросить на виавском форуме, может там чего подскажут...

Советую подключить репозиторий http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Drivers:/Video/openSUSE_11.4 и установить более свежий пакет xorg-x11-driver-video-unichrome или установить другой драйвер xorg-x11-driver-video-openchrome.
