Проблемы с графикой при старте системы

Здравствуйте. В очередной раз столкнулся с проблемой: при загрузке системы после экрана с секундомером черный экран. Система прогружается до конца но без GUI. Сталкиваюсь с такой ситуацией уже не в первый раз. Было и на Centos 6.1 и на 6.2
Подскажите пожалуйста как можно выявить причину проблемы?

VGA разъема два, в спецификации если не ошибаюсь речь идет о двух интегрированных видеокартах.

видеокарта там одна... ATI ES1000 встречаются на серверных материнках, если мне память не изменяет.

из пункта 12.1. Known Issues

ATI RN50/ES1000 graphics devices have limited Video RAM (VRAM) and are restricted to an 8-bit color depth for the text console. Consequently, the graphical boot screen is unavailable on systems using these graphics devices.

т.е. видяха слабая, как минимум...

хотелось бы увидеть конфиг Иксов

Извините, но я не могу найти xorg.conf :( (в /etc/X11/ нету)

По поводу слабой видеокары: после установки системы все было нормально недели две, ну и второй такой же сервер работает на windows - каких то ощутимых проблем с графикой нет.

X :1 -configure
и потом смотри конфиг в /root/xorg.conf.new

так, рассказывайте, что случилось по прошествии двух недель... если было нормально, а стало плохо, значит что-то произошло.

to Hrafn: вечером уходил с работы все было ок, дома подключался к серверу по средством nx. С утра графики уже не было.

Похоже привел несколько некорректную информацию. :( При создании Xorg.conf использовал команду Xorg :1 -configure - что как я понимаю неправильно.
При вводе Xorg :0 -configure получаю:

Драйвера обновляли? Ядро пересобирали? Попробуйте отключить glx-ы и т.п.
Используете 3 монитора? Попробуйте отредактировать Xorg.conf (привести в соответствие с действительностью).

Для "обхода" ошибки "Server is already active for display 0":
Переключаетесь в свободную консоль (CTRL+ALT+F2, CTRL+ALT+F3, CTRL+ALT+F4 - какая больше понравится).
Логинитесь. От суперюзера даете
telinit 3
После чего в консольке пробуете запустить "ругающуюся" команду. По завершении работы команды можете сделать telinit 5 из той же консольки. На 1-ом терминале (ALT+F1) снова запустится X-сервер (судя по ругани на уже присутствующий сервер на :0 X-ы таки запускаются).

Извиняюсь за столь наивные вопросы:

Как можно обновить драйвера ?
Как можно отключить glx ?

Монитор используется один (хотя мне не совсем понятно как расценивать подключение по средством nx). X-ы быть может и стартуют, но графики я не вижу (черный экран)

В Xorg.conf убрать строки

Можно посмотреть еще и на другие модули (я бы убрал их все для начала, и потом по одному включал).
Попробуйте таки сделать в консольке telinit 3 и запустить, например, startx. Чем будет плеваться X-сервер? Желательно лог в студию

Как можно обновить драйвера ?

Это зависит от того, каким способом вы ставили то, что сейчас пытается использовать X-сервер. Если из репозитория - yum reinstall попробовать, либо yum update. Если ручками - соответственно по той же схеме, что и устанавливали.

Не хочет переключаться в консольный режим - все тот же черный экран. НО: при подключении к серверу по средством nxklient и вводе startx X-ы стартуют, но только из под root. При запуске в терминале:

Выглядит загадочно. Всё те же ошибки glx-а. Но, если учесть, что под рутом запускается нормально - не критичные.
Попробуйте переустановить группы "Платформа Desktop" и "Система X Window".
