И еще приходится делать свой инит скрипт примерно такого содержания

Lupo Alberto, нигде упоминания не нашел, можно ли сделать /etc/conf.d/netif.ppp0, ведь это было бы логично, раз есть же netif.br, netif.eth, netif.tap и тп, надеюсь понятно объяснил. Прсто по-аналогии в neif.eth0 можно указать шаблон template="interface", тут по-идее правилно было бы template="pppd"

Шаблона для pppoe нет, действительно. При условии что стоит пакет rp-pppoe и настроено соединение с провайдером, например pppoe на eth2. Можно наваять что-то подобное /etc/netif.d/interface-pppoe

angry_vincent, и я про то же. Только при опускании или до поднятия надо еще проверить существование /var/run/ppp0.pid и удалять его, очень неприятно например если для поднятия надо перезагружаться, особенно если связь не очень качественная и это сервер.
Я вообще в crontab забил поминутный запуск при условии что интерфейс опущен:

Опять столкнулся с проблемой, не могу запустить xfce4 c помощью slim. Запустить удается только с помощью startxfce4 из консоли. Также не могу запустить firefox, запуская из терминала пишет сбой шины.

SidER, покажите файл /etc/slim.conf и файл ~/.xinitrc в домашнем каталоге пользователя, от имени которого вы входите в XFce4.

P.S. Вообще-то, у меня файл ~/.xinitrc прекрасно обходится без строки #!/bin/bash wink
P.S.S. При установке последних версий Slim выводится сообщение, что использовать опцию ck-launch-session уже не обязательно.
