Достала меня ситуация с xfce - упорно воспринимает мониторы как один, тут же запускаю openbox - всё нормально, xorg уже из debian скопировал - эффект тот же вот дебиановский xorg - на нем крыса в debian мониторы раздельно воспринимает, в gentoo как один хоть ты тресни.

Пробовал все конфиги из /home/$USER сносить тоже не помогло.

судя по всему виноваты не иксы... виновата крыса.
ща попробую соберу ради разнообразия...
а окошки вы между мониторами таскаете или нет?

Окошки нормально, но что vlc что smplayer думают что это один монитор, да и крыса в нормальном режиме wallpapper ставит раздельно, тут нет - тянет на всю.

попробуйте очистить конфиг xfce.

Из хомяка всё вычищал, не помогло.
Сейчас попробовал создал нового пользователя, запустил, - тоже самое, даже панель которую по-умолчанию при запуске xfce делает на один монитор - тут сразу на два, ну и плееры соответственно упорно не хотят на одном мониторе работать.

а вот это уже интересно... процесса с рабочими столами (xfdesktop) два или один?

и логи иксов покажи... идея появилась...

вот это нехорошо... sudo eselect opengl set nvidia не забыл? это два.

куча ворнингов потом тоже напрягают... но всё это издержки этого старого конфига... это три.

Не, не бинго пока, в гноме ситуация повторилась.
Я вот что подумал - если не использовать проприетарные дрова какие должны стоять?
В настройках стандартных гнома =>> Мониторы ==> Гном видит только один монитор, только nvidia-settings показывает два, может гному нужны стандартные драйвера, какие?
Т.е. при установке я сразу поставил проприетарные дрова.
Единственное что смущает это Openbox.

В общем случае достаточно:

P.S. Я бы после изменения ACCEPT_KEYWORDS обновил portage, glibc, gcc, linux-headers, затем перешёл бы на новый python, только после этого обновлял бы полностью систему.

В итоге пока проблемма с TwinView так и осталось, кстати не один я такой, гуглёжь пока вывел на откат драйверов nvidia.
Но Separate X screen вместе с Xinerama работают как и положено.

Что-то я не понимаю, какая допустим версия gcc в testing. Я добавил в make.conf ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" - обновился, и у меня gcc версия 4.4.5 (Gentoo 4.4.5 p1.3, pie-0.4.5)

Даже в debian сейчас у меня gcc version 4.6.1 (Debian 4.6.1-5)

Ну так переключиться надо:
— проверить действующий GCC
[console] gcc-config -l[/console]
— выбрать нужный
[console] gcc-config 2[/console]
(2 приведено для примера, взять из вывода предыдущей команды)

После смены версии не забудьте выполнить
[console]fix_libtool_files.sh 4.4.5[/console]
(4.4.5 — предыдущая «старая» версия)

P.S. При большом желании можно и 4.6 установить, но она пока хардмаскед, так что на собственный страх и риск.
