А где поподробнее про это? Какие нюансы?
Я как бы намекаю, что установку этих пакетов производил на свеже обновлённый Squueze. Так что, пока версии пакетов не сменились - попробуйте.
Альтруистический, даже гуманный совет:
махните эту видюху какому-нибудь виндопользователю на nvidia, или продайте за пол цены и купите nvidia, какую-нить GF 9600.
И живите долго и счастливо, не заня ни каких форумов по натройке видеосистемы.
Что же тогда будет, когда появятся гибридные процессоры AMD Fusion -- проц выбрасывать или продавать ?
Нет, уж лучше открытый драйвер. К тому же уже для Radeon HD 5XXX есть KMS и родное разрешение монитора в X, консоли.

Как я понял, ни проприетарные драйвера fglrx, ни драйвера radeonhd не поддерживают мою видеокарту, ибо больно старая. Есть ли возможность все таки ззапустить систему с драйверами для карточки Radeon X300?

Свободные дрова очень даже её поддерживают.
Ваши действия в этой ситуации:
1) полностью удалить fglrx;
2) поставить пакет firmware-linux;
3) выполнить Xorg -configure (от рута, конечно).

Исправил его, изменив в секции Device опцию Driver на radeonhd, а так же дописал нужное разрешение. Вот xorg.conf который закидываю в папку /etc/X11/

Хммм.. наверно чтобы использовать драйвер radeonhd :rolleyes:
Я так понимаю, Вы предлагаете использовать стандартный драйвер.
Тогда может я не в ту сторону копаю, изначально проблема состояла вот в чем. Жена очень любит смотреть сериалы с сайта "Vkontakte". Играются они через флешку. Установил флеш плагин flashplayer-mozilla. Флешки работают, фильмы играются, но если развернуть фильм в фуллскрин, получаю жуткие тормоза, 1-2 кадра в секунду. Пробовал удалить flashplayer-mozilla и на его место поставить flashplugin-nonfree. Ничего не изменилось. Вот после этого я и занялся попытками установить драйвера на видеокарту.

Прошу прощения, запутался. Просто всю жизнь на Nvidia просидел.
Таки моя проблема с тормозами во время полноэкранного флеш ролика не решилась.
Да и видеокарта помоему не лучшие показатели FPS выдает даже без воспроизведения видео. Вот такие показатели выдает glxfears

В качестве DE использую LXDE. Наслышан о её мгновенной реакции на действия, но даже разворачивание окна терминала происходит с сильной задержкой. Может кто что подсказать по этому поводу?
Есть ещё вопрос:
стоит Radeon 5450, открытый драйвер его поддерживает кроме 3D, но карта греется -- палец не удержишь, думаю более 80 C.
На http://www.x.org/wiki/RadeonFeature написано что есть "Power Saving", пакет firmware-linux стоит, нашёл 3 опции в man radeon для энергосбережения: "DynamicPM", "ForceLowPowerMode", "ClockGating", но после конфигурирования Xorg -configure и включения этих опций "True" в /var/log/Xorg.0.log в предупреждениях по ним написано "not used".
Так как, драйвер имеет функции энергосбережения или нет ?
Или может быть надо ждать выхода новой версии драйвера и вышеупомянутому сайту не верить ?
