Здравствуйте,
Уставновил Debian Wheezy, у меня видеокарта nVidia GTX 580, долго парился с установкой драйверов, заработало только с 310 драйверами с сайта нвидии, ни одни из репозиториев не смогли заставить иксы подняться. Но после этого у меня пропал терминал (F1-F6) и recovery mode работает только с параметром nomodeset.
Как можно установить какой-нибудь фреймбуфер? Нагуглить смог только uvesafb, завелось, но выглядит это страшно. Кое что гуглится по intelfb, nvidiafb, vesafb, но абсолютно ничего по поводу как это установить. modprobe на эти модули говорит not found.
Монитор у меня 1920х1080, было бы хорошо запустить консоль в этом режиме. До установки драйверов нвидии (когда иксы не поднимались) была консоль на родное разрешение, как мне казалось. Во всяком случае шрифты не казались размытыми и растянутыми.
PS. Ещё у меня i7 на SandyBridge, в нем вроде тоже есть встроенное видео, может на него можно что-то поставить, если в нвидией не получается.

С графикой проблем нет. А с консолью - попробуйте поиграться с опцией vga= ядра. Передайте ядру при загрузке параметр vga=ask и попробуйте поиграться с предложенными режимами.
